Description
A quality learning environment is everything that the child has access to. This includes the inside environment, the outside environment, and the interactions they have with others. The indoor environment should be set up to allow free choice of activities to the children for the majority of the day. The room is set in learning centers so that children can work on skills that will lay a foundation for future academic learning. The outside can also be an excellent tool in learning centers. Anything that can be done inside can be brought outdoors. A quality learning environment is one that provides for language and literacy development, social and emotional development, physical development, and cognitive development all while children are having fun. There are a few federal standards that all centers and schools must follow, but the majority of norms are set by states, county and city ordinances.
