A director has many hats each day. At one moment you are on the floor with the children, and then you might need to be cooking lunch or cleaning a bathroom. Being a director is a job that is always busy and full of details. A very important part of your job doesn’t get spoken about enough. That is the part of manager, or director. You have to be there to fill in when needed, but a large responsibility of a director’s job is hiring, firing, training, and supervising staff. The director sets the tone of the child care center. When a director is happy and focused on creating the perfect learning environment for the children, the staff members will follow. An important part of creating that learning environment is hiring the best staff possible for you program.
